Description
About the Artist In 1998 Zev Love X of the seminal rap group KMD re-emerged as a masked suoer villain known as MF DOOM. The following year he released the ground-breaking independent classic Operation Doomsday. DOOM only added to the mystery by creating multiple aliases (King Geedorah, Vicotor Vaughn, etc.) and taking a no hold bars approach to his musical career. With collaborative side projects with Madlib (Madvillain) and most recently DANGERDOOM with Danger Mouse, MM..FOOD marks the super villain's long awaited follow up to Operation: Doomsday. Originally released November 2004 MM..FOOD has been out of print for close to two years. While copies of MM.FOOD have regularly been selling in the $100 range on sites like e-bay, it's now back with a special dual package including a live performance DVD. After its original release DOOM embarked on an 8 city release party tour called the MM..FOOD Drive Tour. The performances doubled as Food Drives for each stop of the tour. Fans were encouraged to bring canned goods to the show. At the end of the tour over 1,000 pounds (in weight) was donated to various local food shelves. With over an hour of live performances and behind the scenes footage this special edition of MM..FOOD provides a rare look at the mysterious metal fingers super villain MF DOOM. A must for every MF DOOM fan. Product Description Mm.. Food is an album by hip hop artist Daniel Dumile, his second full-length under the MF DOOM moniker. It was released on November 16, 2004 on Rhymesayers Entertainment. MM.. FOOD is an anagram of MF DOOM. Throughout the album, DOOM employs many food-related samples, and many of his lyrical themes are based on food metaphors. It contains several songs which were recorded as early as 2002, some previously released on singles, and a track ("One Beer") previously released under the name Madvillain and released on another label earlier in the same year. The original cover art was painted by Jason Jagel and designed by Jeff Jank. The paintings contain scenes of MF DOOM eating breakfast, mixing chemicals in a forest, and people tied to trees. A bonus disc entitled Mm.. LeftOvers was released by Rhymesayers and Hiphopsite to promote the album. The album was re-released on 24 July 2007 on Rhymesayers Entertainment. The re-release comes with a bonus DVD, Tour Poster, and a chocolate-scented Mm.. Food sticker. Many of the samples DOOM uses on this album are taken from vintage episodes of Fantastic Four, Spider-Man and Superman. An example of this extensive use of sampling can be found in the intro of Beef Rapp.
