Hi there. Up for grabs is a MEGA-RARE PROMO copy of the sound track for the movie E.T. The Extra-terrestrial double vinyl box set narrated by Michael Jackson. Disc 1 is the picture disc vinyl copy of the entire fim score by John Williams. Just amazing in itself. The 2nd disc is the really exciting one. This is the storybook album of the movie narrated by Michael Jackson. He was asked to do this promo version of it at the time as he was the perfect choice to do so. It's quite simply so beautifully done that it's hard to put into words. His voice is an immaculate choice for such a storybook narration. So delightful to listen to. A song was even written especially to put on this half of the double album called "Someone in the dark" which is sung by Michael himself. This song was also released as a 7" promo single at the same time. There was a lot of controversy between record labels for this release as Michael (at the height of his fame) was signed to Epic, but released this recording with MCA, which was considered to be a breach of contract. So the ET storybook's sale was cancelled. This was something the writer of the song, Quincy Jones mentioned as an issue when receiving the Grammy for this production. So unless you somehow manage to get an actual copy of the 7" promo single of this, which would be a miracle, the only other place you can hear this song as it was released is on this promo sound track. So as I said, this is a MEGA-RARE copy as it was never really on general release and there are very few of these about.
Also included is a glossy gatefold booklet with the story inside & all the actors lines so you can read along with the record. It also includes many pictures from the movie too. Amazingly put together. It is in immaculate & pristine condition. The vinyls are also in the same condition as this has been a treasured item in my collection for a very long time now. The outside box is still in good shape as well considering its age.
So get your hands on this while you can as there are not may of these in the world at all. This Michael Jackson box set promo is truly a collectors item and worth treasuring.
