Lovely album of folky bluesy guitar pieces in the Renbourn, Jansch tradition. I’m a big fan of solo acoustic guitar albums and this is one of my very favourites in the genre. Mostly a solo LP but it does include a pre-fame Rachel Unworthy (who must have been fairly young at the time) playing violin on one track. Very limited release of 500 copies (although I believe it was repressed), this is no 238 and is in genuinely unplayed condition.
The sleeve is merely one piece of thickish card folded into a gatefold with no seams or spine. It’s in excellent condition throughout with only one flaw to mention. That is a patch of wear in the centre of what would (on a normal sleeve) be the spine, this is about an inch and a half long and although it’s not actually a split, it’s well on the way to becoming one so care will be needed with storage to avoid this deteriorating any further, I’m currently storing the record and sleeve separately so it won’t get any worse. That small thing aside the sleeve is pretty much perfect, extremely clean, no writing, no tears, no creasing no ringwear or any other type of wear or damage, just as nice as you would want it to be.
The record itself is, well, was in genuinely unplayed condition. I’ve just played it once (couldn’t resist it) just to check that it’s ok and it plays perfectly. It’s made from very thick vinyl which sits on the turntable perfectly flat and is extremely clean. The sound is every bit as nice as you would expect from an unplayed record, it’s a good clean pressing which reproduces the excellent music very well indeed and throughout the whole album I could not find one fault to write about, this is as close to being truly Mint as a 14 year old record can be.
