Up for bid: 5 (five) original cassette tapes of EARLY Phil Elvrum recordings. I went to High School with him, loved his stuff, grew out of it and, alas, the extreme sentimentality I once felt for these fine musical memories has now substantially faded. I'm sure there are some die-hard Phil-fans who can appreciate them more than me. These tapes focus primarily on the musical period of Phil as a senior in High School and the following year, right as he was beginning his Microphones project. Tape 1- THE TUGBOAT FIASCO. featuring Phil and High School friends James Moffit and Brandon Shayfer (RIP). Awesome rock, THE musical staple for me, freshman year. I saw them perform this album about 500 times at the Anacortes Teen Center. Tape 2- TUGBOAT: UP YOUR BOAT & AROUND THE CORNER. the follow-up to their successful first album (Successful at our high school) Signed by Phil with thick, bleeding Sharpie marker. Tape 3- MOSTLY CLOUDS AND TREES: BEAUTIFUL FACE. the Tugboat side-project featuring only Phil and Brandon. Dreamy stuff, thoughtful and melodic. Tape 4- MICROPHONES. I believe this is the first official microphones album ever released. Given to me personally by Phil as a birthday present at the same time as- Tape 5- MICRPHONES MIX (not pictured) This is the ONLY copy in existence, a mix made by Phil just for me. He hand-lettered the paper label on this one in his distinctive scrawl. Some collaborations with Karl Blau. Very rare tapes that would be impossible for anyone to get a hold of, unless attending Anacortes High School circa 1996. All in playable condition, but they ARE 10-year old original casettes, and Phil used some pretty cheap equipment in those days. Don't expect c.d. quality, but you are all obviously fans of Lo-Fi.
