Midnight Oil 1st Press OZ LP Place without a postcard VG+ ’81 SBP237704 + Poster
Original OZ LP released in 1981 on CBS Records. Cat: SBP237704. Comes with printed lyric inner bag and foldout poster both of which are in Excellent condition. This is a really beautiful yet flawed record that shows off Midnight Oil’s darker edge. It definitely represents a transition period for the band; the album maintains the harder, almost punky edge that characterises their first two records, but combines this with a tentative push towards the sonic experimentation of their next two records. This works very well on some tracks, but less well on others - in a couple of places it feels discordant for no particular reason and isn’t especially pleasant to listen to (“Basement Flat”, “Quinella” and “If Ned Kelly Was King” in particular come to mind).

There are a few light spindle marks on labels. Record has some light scuff marks and a few very light scratches that cause some light crackles e and is in Excellent condition. Gloss cover has some light marks and a few small surface tears around edges and is in VG++ condition.
Wrapping method: All records are sent in stiff cardboard mailers then wrapped in brown paper and sealed around edges with brown packaging tape. Records are taken out of sleeve to avoid seam splits and ring wear.
