Come Outside/Fountain of love- Brazil Demo Copy 0n 78rpm. Mike Sarne featuring Wendy Richards
This was the Summer hit of 1962. Released on the eve of the swinging 60s with the likes of The Beatles and Stones just about to hit the big time. Most of you will be familiar with this song about a guy attempting to lure his girlfriend out of the dance hall for a bit of slap and tickle before she has to be home at half past ten! The unmistakable voice of Wendy Richards is the girl attempting to resist his offers!
Yes, the days of free love and Discos were just around the corner.
The 78 RPM had been phased out in the UK in 1960. However it survived a little longer in a handful of countries. This is a Brazilian Demo copy. The label is marked with a sticker as per photo.With a little care,this can easily be removed and cleaned.
If it wasnt for a couple small scuff marks and one faint scratch(only noticable under light) I would say this was virtually unplayed. It is therefore in near mint condition. It plays great with no interference whatsover.
This record is unique in many ways:-
A 1962- No 1 on 78 rpm.
A British artist on 78 rpm in South America is a rarity and possibly first male artist to achieve this.
Features Wendy Richards as we all know as Pauline Fowler from Eastenders.
Unsure if this was a hit in Brazil therefore may be very few copies around. Also unsure if released on 78 rpm in any other nation.
This record must be a great investment .An evergreen hit and any 78rpm No 1 from Post 1960 is a real rarity. Also any Wendy Richards or Eastenders fans, would be an ideal collection.
A very low reserve price at a fraction of the value. Will only appreciate in value. A genuine record collectors piece!.
