Please be advised that I've just moved in the last couple months. This means that my turntable is still in storage. So keep in mind that I have not been able to test-play any of the records for sale this year.
What has six eyes, a red face and is bluish?
Most people would call this LP Near Mint. Under normal room lighting, the album looks VERY close to unplayed. But subjected to the bright bulb test, there are some tiny hairlines that appear, which are otherwise imperceptible to the naked eye. The vinyl is an absolute keeper VG++. I can't call it Near Mint, since those hairlines were not there when the LP left the mint. Not having a turntable hooked up, I can't say with confidence whether this copy is one of the rare first pressings that plays at the wrong speed. The plates are certainly well within being early enough for that to be so. (Hint: The speed difference is reported to be so negligible that you have to be seated at a tuned piano to tell the difference.) Regardless, the wrong speed pressing is very rare, since it only existed on the first pressing in 1958.
Each of the labels have a few spindle marks. They also have a dig or two. There is a sticker stain on the Side 2 label. Please see the photos to view the extent of this damage to the labels. Not too bad, just enough to make you wish they weren't there for such a blinding clean copy.
The Side 1 trail-off has a machine-stamped 1AC, not to be confused with a 90-day blood sugar reading. Side 2 has a machine-stamped 1A. Please see photos.
The cover could stand an upgrade. Both front and back covers have moderate ringwear and dirtwear. The top seam is weak and threatening to split. The bottom seam and spine are completely intact, although there is moderate slick loss to both. There appears to be a long, thin water stain along the left edge of the back cover. There is also some foxing to the bottoms of both cover surfaces. It looks like there may have been mildew to the front bottom cover. But if that's the case, it doesn't smell at all like mildew in the least. So it might just be dirt against the dark brown cover.
The original company inner sleeve is present, and it's in really good condition. There is a center split at the bottom seam, about 4 inches. But both side seams are strong and secure. Some yellowing has occurred, but certainly not much at all. True to the inner sleeves of the late 1950's for Columbia, the patent number is stamped into the bottom right margin, rather than printed or missing completely.
