Description
This is a very rare old Fontana recording from 1958. It belonged to my late husband who had a large collection of Jazz records. I’m selling them as they haven’t been played since 1990 and I would love them to have new homes. The number is TFL5035 and it has an export number of 682 030 TL The matrix are Side one AA 683 030 1L-1/420 Side two AA 682 030 2L- 1/420 The tracks are Dr. Jewell, Sid’s Ahead, Two Bass Hit, Milestones, Billy Boy and Straight, No Chaser Miles Davis plays with ‘Cannonball’ Adderly, John Coltrane, Red Garland, Paul Chambers, and ‘Philly’ Joe Jones The cover is in good, even remarkable condition considering it’s age. There is a little wrinkling of the film near the opening. There is a ring where it has been stored. There is some old sellotape which wraps around onto the front which is a shame but I’m not going to try to remove it as it would damage the cover. The reverse side is discoloured with age and the strip of sellotape runs along the bottom of the cover. The inner cover seems to be stuck and I don’t want to pull it as I may tear it. The vinyl is bright and apart from a few hairline surface scratches it visually looks perfect. The Fontana labels in Black and Silver are perfect The record plays perfectly with maybe a few extra clicks at the start of side one. I haven’t cleaned it so maybe the clicks are dirt. There are no jumps or slurs. There are no lumps or bumps. It’s a great recording of Davis and Coltrane playing together.
