Miles Davis Quintet-Cookin-Rare Near Mint 1976 Japan JVC (MFSL) Jazz Record

This is an exceptional audiophile quality Japanese pressing of the Miles Davis Quintet -Cookin, which was originally issued by Prestige Records in 1957,. This LP was pressed and released in Japan by Victor Music Company Ltd (JVC-Japan Victor Company), the entity responsible for the production of MFSL audiophile LP series.  The LP was pressed on virgin vinyl with the vinyl translucent, with light passing through vinyl. This LP was purchased by me used a number of years ago and was played maybe once or twice. Very few of these early JVC pressings have been available for sale on EBAY or anywhere else in the US.  Unfortunately no OBI is present. Please note that no audiophile quality pressings of any of the LPS by Miles Davis released on Prestige were ever pressed by Victor Musical Industries for release in the United States. The only Miles Davis LP pressed by Victor Musical Industries and released by MFSL was the Columbia Record pressing Someday My Prince will come, which has a near mint book value of $80.

As to grading, I grade very conservatively following Goldmine Record grading standard. Except that for records that are a notch below near mint, rather than VG ++, I prefer to use grade of Excellent. I do not use VG++ grade in addition to Excellent grade as is done by some.

The LP visually is in beautiful near mint condition and plays very quietly as tested using headphones. Please  note that this was cleaned before testing which was done few weeks before listing and done by hand and not machine. It should be cleaned again before listening. The cover is in excellent condition and would have been graded near mint but for slight crimping on the lower cover corner near mouth.The seams and spine are strong with no real wear evident except as noted near the lower mouth corner, with no splits and the product information is clearly readable on the spine. The front and back of cover are exceptionally clean.

The LP is being sold without reserve and payment is expected within 3 days of auction close. Return of the LP will only be accepted if the same LP sold and shipped is returned. Buyers that behave in a less than ethical manner will be reported and blocked from participation in future auctions.
