The Last Show Ever From This Amazing Lineup On 180g Vinyl LP!
Previously Unreleased Recording!
The last performance of the lost quintet. The "third great quintet" by itself was never documented in the recording studio. Their European tour of 1969, represented on this LP, is one of only two existing recordings of the group; this is the final show, never released before.
In 1969, Miles and his Quintet were on their European tour, promoting the Bitches Brew album. They recorded 4 live tracks in Rotterdam on November 9, a rare recording lost for many years. Now brilliantly remastered, these four tracks highlight Miles' ever-expanding progression in sound, developing on his Jazz-based roots into the more prominent Jazz/Rock fusion style that he latterly became known for.
"Each of the musicians were soon to be regarded as giants of jazz fusion, they're called the 'lost quintet' because they never made any studio recordings as a fivesome. As flawed as this performance might be, this is a historic record of this unique quintet. Typical Miles to change at every opportunity as this recording sounds nothing like what's on Bitches Brew. Wayne Shorter on soprano and tenor saxophones; Chick Corea on Fender Rhodes piano; Dave Holland on bass and Jack DeJohnette on drums. This historic radio broadcast was the last one to feature this great line up."- Gary Gillies & Sean Gillies, Sleepy Night Records
