Description
Peer International PIL 9013, ‘Mindbender’. Original UK library LP, 1972. Cover: mint. Vinyl: excellent (light surface marks, plays perfectly). All compositions by Stringtronics.
Highly sought-after killer funk LP from one of the rarest & strongest library labels of them all. Peer International pressed up their records in tiny, tiny quantities, & the good ones like this are hence notoriously difficult-to-get-hold-of collectors’ items. The best-known track, is of course, Nino Nardini’s ‘Tropicola’, which has appeared on numerous comps. & was reissued on a Jazzman rare funk 45. Pretty much every other track has something to offer too, though. Deep bass lines, riffy percussion, cool keys, fuzzed-out wah-wah & moody strings animate the arrangements of ‘Dawn Mists’, ‘Hunted’ (middle section), ‘Afro Samba’, etc.
