AMAZING Unreleased album (( in glorious mono )) of cool 60's garage by Detroit's Rationals ... they were one of the legendary Detroit bands, along side the MC5 & Stooges...by the time they released their only album, they were not in their prime -- this 1966 album showcases the band in their glory ...it was never released -- making it only to the acetate stage ...the acetate is one of the most prized collectibles from the sixties...The Rationals are one of the most important early Detroit / Ann Arbor groups. Although they only had a few huge regional hits, they were highly influential on the Detroit/Ann Arbor club scene and their music has aged gracefully. Maybe not the first rock n roll group to hail from the Mid West region but certainly one of the best, The Rationals had a unique garage/teenbeat sound early on with a large loyal following intense regional following loaded with teenage girls who had eyes for the members...
There are alternate versions of their first singles, the fabulous "Feelin' Lost" (with Iggy on drums!) is from the 45.
The opening track is pure garage, you also get an excellent cover of "Gloria", perhaps among the earliest recordings of the band and a version of "Smokestack Lightning" that shows them at their wildest...the song turning into the Animals' "Inside looking out" a real highlight! And that's just the tip of the goods here...
