Even while taking into consideration the free-spirited anything goes ethos that characterized West Coast Punk circa 1984, the Minutemen must have been perceived as a anomaly. At times they seemed barely competent at their instruments, at other times they had chops to burn. At times they played with deadly earnest, at other times they were positively goofy with irreverence. They were surely punk, but it seems like they might have been listening to their fathers' Charlie Parker and Sly Stone records on the down low. And how about those covers? Van Halen? Steely Dan? Whaaaat?
This double LP is one of the best releases of the 80s--period. It never ceases to amaze, and it never gets old. It's all over the map stylistically while remaining true to the punk aesthetic. It is one sprawling, energized, genre hopping lump of unintentioned genius.

Inner gatefold is slightly yellowed from age, but the cover both front and back is virtually flawless--no ring wear or scuffing to sjpeak of. The vinyl shows no significant wear and is clean and free of visible scratches.
