Description
For your consideration is this ORIGINAL pressing of Cough/Cool and She by the Misfits. Only 500 of these were pressed in 1977. I am listing this record for a friend who purchased this record new in 1977 from Metamorphisis Records in Dallas, Texas. Tim has had this record in his posession ever since. We guarantee this to be an authentic original and not a bootleg. No one knows how many of the original 500 are still around. We do know that those that are remaining are becoming harder to find and prices are steadily climbing. One of the originals sold on eBay on 9-3-06 for $2,026. Another sold on eBay on 1-26-07 for $2,573. This record has only been played 4 or 5 times. I played it one time myself so I could report any skips or surface noise. I am happy to report that it plays flawlessly. I am not a record dealer but I would have to say that it is in near mint condition. There is a small light scuff on the A side that may have been caused by getting it in and out of the sleeve. Any dark areas on the photos of the disc are shadows and not on the disc itself. The matrix reads: A 101 Rich Spectrum Bklyn NY, and the flip side reads: B 102 Rich. The thin paper sleeve does show some wear as can be seen in the photos. There is a seam split at the bottom. You can see the outline of the record and there are a couple of small tears. We are starting this auction at $1,500 and with NO RESERVE. This is an opportunity to own one of the rarest punk records ever produced. Fast and careful worldwide shipping. Shipping insurance is required. Payment can be made with PayPal or U.S. Postal Money Orders.
The following information was obtained from Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia:
"The "Cough/Cool" 7" single was the first release by the punk band The Misfits. It was released on the bands' own Blank Records as catalog number 101, in August 1977. Only 500 copies were printed.
The band had only been together a few months, and already went through a line-up change, when they went in to the Rainbow Studio to record these songs in June of 1977. The tracks were then mastered at The Spectrum in Brooklyn, New York.
This is the only release where bassist Jerry Only was credited by his real name, Jerry Caiafa. Glenn Danzig had incorrectly spelled Caiafa as Caifa in the notes, so reportedly Jerry told Danzig he was to be called "Jerry, only Jerry" from then on. He has gone by his stage name since."
