Description

Modest Mouse – Good News for People Who Love Bad News (2004, Epic) is the band’s fourth album and their major‑label breakthrough, widely regarded as an alternative‑rock classic. It marks a turning point where Modest Mouse tightened their songwriting and production while still keeping their signature off‑kilter, existential edge.

• The sound blends indie‑rock grit with more polished, radio‑friendly arrangements, adding touches of psychedelia, jazz, and even hints of dance‑rock into their usual post‑punk‑ish framework.

• It’s anchored by the huge hit “Float On” (a 5× platinum single), plus fan‑favorites like “The World at Large,” “Ocean Breathes Salty,” and “Bukowski,” which mix existential angst with surprisingly catchy melodies.
