Description
This beautiful and quite rare stereo LP from Decca (DL 710094, manufactured in the USA, gold & black label, stereo) features one of Erica Morini's most elusive titles – her pairing of Mozart's Violin Sonata No. 25 in C Major K. 296, with Beethoven's Violin Sonata No. 3 in E-flat Major Op. 12 No. 3 – recorded in New York on 5/6 March 1963 with pianist Rudolf Firkusny.
How so much more richly rewarding to have performances in which the pianist is every bit equal to the imagination and technical command of the violinist. Nor in terms of recording is the violinist overly spotlit; in fact, the Decca balance is quite nearly ideal, as are these artists’ readings of two masterworks of the chamber music repertoire, Morini and Firkusny in equally inspired and mellifluous accord.
While other of Morini's American Decca titles turn up with fair regularity (her Franck Violin Sonata, for instance), this particularly issue has always been somewhat elusive. It remains one of her finest recordings. The superlative liner notes are by the eminent Louis Biancolli.
CONDITION:
The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. The only flaw to speak of concerns a discreet and minor area of crushing to the lower-left spine (@ 1" in length), as well as some slight edgewear and bumping at corners. Otherwise the album is without defect – no owners' markings or seamsplits and, the striking artwork still vividly colorful. In short, an extremely fine collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is similarly MINT- and it plays without defect of any kind.
A truly fine copy of what is now a quite rare title, one of Erica Morini's very finest.
All LPs have been play-graded and carefully cleaned and all records are provided with a new clear polysleeve.

Canadian buyers pay a flat $7.00 fee for Airmail. For each additional LP, add $2.00; for a 2LP box set add $4.00. For a larger box set, I will calculate shipping and send an invoice.
For all other international destinations, buyers pay a flat fee of $14.00. For each additional LP, add $2.00. If a box set is purchased in addition to a single LP, shipping costs will be calculated based on weight and destination country.
