Morrissey - 'Suedehead' Double Vinyl LP - 1997

This album is one which does not come up for sale often in the double vinyl LP format offered here, most copies being pressed in CD format. This scarcity was reflected in Record Collector's 'Top 50 Morrissey Rarities' article in the Christmas 2009 edition, in which this double LP appeared at number 35 in the list ahead of many promotional discs and mispressings. It was pressed on heavyweight glossy vinyl and came in a luxuriously-glossy gatefold outer sleeve, and has become highly desirable amongst collectors. Also included in this auction is a very interesting promotional 2-sided glossy paper flyer issued for the French market which includes early proposed artwork and release details in French text. This flyer illustrates something of the 'evolution' of the plans for this album, which clearly must have changed as the release date came closer. Differences include a change in the track order, whereby tracks 2 and 3 are switched in position, and a slightly earlier proposed release date. More obviously, the artwork was yet to be finalised and an adaptation of the 'Vauxhall And I' artwork was used overlayed with the new album title in gold. Undoubtedly the most interesting difference, however, is the famously-abandoned plans for a second 'bonus' CD containing unreleased material. Even the tracklisting on this bonus CD was seen to change before it was finally scrapped altogether. Here the proposed bonus CD lists 'Trash', 'That's Entertainment', 'Oh Phoney' and 'Striptease With A Difference' as the additional tracks, but other promotional booklets were available elsewhere advertising different tracks on this extra CD. A very interesting piece of Morrissey solo-career history and a very rare double vinyl LP are offered here together in superb condition (see below).

The heavyweight vinyl and labels are in near mint condition, with both records appearing unplayed and having only a few superficial 'hairline' surface marks here and there on the glossy vinyl if held to the light. The original white paper inner sleeves are also present and intact. The impressive glossy outer gatefold sleeve is in strong excellent condition, with no significant signs of wear other than some mild corner wear and mild 'rubbing' in a small region along the bottom edge. There is no writing, no noticeable creases and no marks on the glossy outer sleeve; a very nice example of this rare double record set. The promotional flyer is in near mint condition, with no significant creases and no marks or damage anywhere. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.
