The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

This original 1994 vinyl pressing of 'Vauxhall And I' was ranked at Number 45 in the 2009 Record Collector article, which documented the publication's opinion of the 'Top 50' Morrissey collectables at the time. The desirability of this vinyl LP to collectors was described in the article, in which it was suggested that the album "has been hailed by many as the most important work of his solo career". Part of the reason for its appearance in this highly collectable list is undoubtedly due to the relatively low sales of vinyl by that time, which would have meant relatively few pressings in comparison to the CD format. In addition, the sheer popularity of the album itself has also increased its rarity as copies of the LP are bought up by collectors and fans wishing to hear the tracks on vinyl. The record is very nicely packaged, with a glossy lyric/picture inner sleeve and a gatefold outer sleeve which opens to reveal a double-spread picture of Morrissey (see photo). This example is complete in that it comes with its original inner lyric sleeve, which is sometimes missing from copies seen offered for sale.The thick heavyweight vinyl and labels are in strong excellent condition, remaining glossy and having been very well looked after. There are only light superficial surface marks on the vinyl, which can just be seen if the record is held to the light. There are no significant marks or scratches which would affect the playback of the tracks. The outer gatefold sleeve is also in strong excellent condition, and looks very impressive with strong edges and no marks, writing or damage anywhere; there is just the very beginning of a seam-split in the middle of the upper edge, but the surface has not been broken through. The only signs of wear is some mild to moderate corner wear, but there are no significant creases anywhere to spoil the appearance of this striking sleeve. The picture/lyric inner sleeve is in excellent condition, with no marks, writing or tears but with some seam-splitting in the centre of the edges due to the weight of the vinyl having been stored inside it.
