I rarely sell records on eBay…unless there’s nothing wrong with them. But, I’ve been retailing records locally for over 13 years and I’ve been collecting them for over 50 so I’d like to think I can accurately grade a record. I’ve never fallen out of love with vinyl (except for some minor indiscretions during the mid 80’s CD craze. What can I say? They were so hot, and you could play with them in your car!)
This 1984 set of mono late 40’s Blue Note sides, meticulously reissued by Mosaic, feature tenor titans Ike Quebec and John Hardee in small group sessions backed up by some of swing and bop’s finest who were pouring out of the swing era big bands post war. The sessions date from 1944-1946 and some sides were used to populate 2 Blue Note 12” 78 RPM albums (which I’d love to get my hands on.) They also ended up on a couple of 10” LP’s a few years later when that medium hit the market. The 4 LP’s in this set are near mint and show no visible scuffs, finger prints, spindle wear, etc. In short, it is a well cared for set. The informative 16-page booklet is in pristine condition. The only cosmetic issue I can see is some light shelf wear along the edges of the front of the box.
