COMPLETE SOLID STATE RECORDINGS OF THE THAD JONES/MEL LEWIS ORCHESTRA
This set is number 4424 of a 5000 limited edition now, sadly, out of print.
The set is in new condition, all five CDs are still shrinkwrapped – yes, they are all unplayed!! Both box and booklet are as new. The superb 16 page, 11 inch square booklet has many fine photographs, bibliography and discography.
On the five CDs there are 42 tracks extending to over 4 hours of high class big band music recorded over the period from May 1966 to May 1970.
This band was filled with top flight musicians including ,as well as Jones and Lewis themselves, Bill Berry/Brookmeyer/Richard Williams/Jerome Richardson/Pepper Adams/Hank Jones/etc.etc.
The material was originally released on the following six albums:-

4. Central Park North

The recorded music was remixed from the original four and eight track master tapes and much of the tape hiss ,compression and artificial echo have been removed bringing a cleaner, warmer, wider sound with more clarity to the music.
A fine set to add to your collection which is not too often seen for sale and extremely rarely in new condition.
