Description
MOZART SEVEN TRIOS 3LP SET on the VOX label, catalogue number PL 8493, released in 1954. The recording is by the Trio Di Bolzano - Nunzio Montanari, piano; Giannino Carpi, violin; Sante Amadori, cello. Eugenia Brunoni also features on clarinet on some pieces.
Classical music is not my bag but I gather that this is quite a rare and sought after item. It appears to be in good condition for its age (see details below for which I have used the Record Collector grading system). I have played each side in its entirety once on my Thorens TD150 and there are no jumps. There is a degree of pop / crackle (worst offender for this is disc 6) which may well improve if the discs are given a clean using a proper cleaner - I only possess a cheap Disco Antistat which I do not want to use on these as it could damage the labels. I only gave the discs a cursory clean with a cloth prior to play testing.
Sleeve VG - overall in better condition than VG. There are some patches where the front cover has worn and there are small pieces missing on the left hand side which should show up in the photo. Top right corner is also worn. Inside is generally in very good condition but there is what appears to be a little evidence of mould throughout - I don't know how easy this would be to treat.
Side 1 - visually EX, aurally VG. No obvious scratches or damage to disc, plays with occasional pops/crackles.
Side 2 - visually EX, aurally VG, same as above.
Side 3 - visually VG, aurally G. Light hairline scratches tracks1, 2, 3-4. Faint click heard on track one, others not noticeable. Pops and crackles as before
Side 4 - visually EX/VG, aurally VG. One small scratch/mark across middle of track 1 but doesn't seem to notice. Pops and crackles as before.
Side 5 - visually EX, aurally VG. No obvious scratches or damage to disc, plays with occasional pops/crackles, perhaps worse than other discs
Side 6 - visually EX-, aurally G. One small hairline scratch track one, more crackle than other discs.
It may well be that if cleaned using a proper cleaning machine that the audio grading would go up as discs look generally very clean but obviously can't guarantee this. If any further info or pictures required please get in touch.
