Musique Pour La Chambre Du Roy; Music at Versailles (1697 - 1747) featuring soloists Monica Huggett Violin, Christophe Coin Bass Viol de Gambe, Judith Nelson Soprano, with the Academy of Ancient Music under Hogwood. Composers include Couperin, Pignolet de Monteclair, Forqueray, Leclair, Marais. I especially enjoyed the Marais trio sonata here with its virtuoso viola da gamba parts, where Cellist and Gambe virtuoso Christophe Coin excels, and Monica Huggett gives her usual thrilling full blooded virtuosity to this style of music in this trio sonata dominated programme. 1983 L'Oiseau Lyre 2LP gatefold set in association with the Folio Society.
