Description
This is a truly historic American single, Decca 31382, that contains the first recorded performance of The Beatles released in the United States. The record is a promo that was sent to American radio stations in early 1962. It is listed on page 143 of Perry Cox's 1999 edition of the Official Price Guide To Beatles Records and Memorabilia. The group is billed as "The Beat Brothers" and backs up singer Tony Sheridan on two tracks, "My Bonnie" on the A-side and "The Saints (When the Saints Go Marching In)" on the B-side. It is estimated that only around 100, possibly fewer, of these records are in existence. This copy has been in my collection for 13 years. All these promos had pink labels and both the A and B sides. Any copies with black labels and/or My Bonnie on both sides are counterfeit. I'm no grading expert but I would call this record a Vg-. There is some label wear and minor scratches. At the middle right of the A-side, there appears to be residue stain from a small round sticker, as you can see in the scan. In the runoff area on both sides, there is stamped 45 DGG24673B.
