YOU'VE COME THIS WAY BEFORE / EBONY GLASS ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by NANCY PRIDDY. Original US promo pressing on DOT label (45-17164), from 1968. Cult and desirable item from the '60s film actress / singer songwriter and mother of Christina Applegate. This killer double-sider, features the 2 hottest themes from her sole Lp. YOU'VE COME THIS WAY BEFORE is Nancy's psychedelic funk / weird folk anthem with groovy lead vocals and infectious hip hop drum patterns rumoured to have been played by Bernard Purdie. Great for DJs. Comped on The Trip by St Etienne for the Family label. For us, the EBONY GLASS side is even better. A stoned psych masterpiece that has also been comped. Cinematic, LSD tinged sunshine pop, very druggy and spaced-out with mystical cum oriental motifs / funky hip hop drums by Purdie midway / melancholic cello / spinette and kiddie spoken word by a cool sounding child ;) Lots of unusual loops and samples. Booming production by Phil Ramone with studio FX and experimental touches. Arranged and conducted by Manny Albam and John Simon. Flat edged styrene in top condition too. Rare 45!!!
Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
Flat edged styrene record is closer to shiny M- condition overall with just a few, faint cloudy marks from the original pressing process. Booming production sound. Some light surface noises. Item taken from an unplayed deadstock of records and played once for the recording of the soundclip. The custom Dot label paper sleeve is in strong VG++ condition with light wear. Natural age discoloration to the outer edges. Rare 45!!!
