This Vintage 1969 Record/Book Set titled, (To the Moon, The Dramatic Story of Man’s Boldest Venture Told in the Voices of Those Who Achieved It, July 20, 1969), is new in its original box. It is a Time-Life Record and Book Set. The set is all complete and includes the records (new in all plastic and paper sleeves and box) and companion book, all in a highly detailed outer box. The set is a narrative account of the history of the NASA program to land a man on the moon. The records begin with the rocket research by scientists Goddard and Langley prior to WWII, The NACA Centers around the country during WWII, the creation of NASA and conversion of the NACA centers to NASA, the first launch of a satellite by Russia, the competition between Russia and the USA in the race to the Moon, the Mercury and Gemini Programs, the Apollo program from the beginning of Apollo 1, the explosion of Apollo 3, and the successful launches of subsequent Apollo Missions, Apollo 11 and the Landing on the Moon. There are a total of 6 records (each side is described above). The records are produced by Michael Kapp, narrative script by David Davidson, and narrated by Sorrell Brooke. They fit in a cardboard box.
The book measures 9 inches x 11 inches and is 192 pages. It is a historical account of space flight, the WWII German V-2 development program that brought Vernon Von Braun to the United States, the early U.S. rocket program, the Mercury Program, Gemini Program and Apollo Program. It is full of text and of Black and White and colored photographs of the early rocket development, Astronauts training, family life, personal photos, Presidential awards and more.
Both the book and record box fit into a larger single box.
The set is in excellent, new condition. There is no damage, wear or any other damage or defects. There are no scratches to the records.
