THE NATURAL FOUR
Northern Soul monster !

The Natural Four was founded in 1966. In the beginning the four were Ollan Christopher, (aka Chris James), John January, Allan Richardson and Alfred Milton Bowden. By 1967 they had signed with a local Oakland, California label, Boola Boola Records and recorded their first single " I Thought You Were Mine." The single got a bit of airplay and turned into a local hit.

They had the opportunity to perform with such artist as B.B. King, Sly Stone and The Pointer Sisters. They were also the opening act for such luminaries as John Lee Hooker, Etta James and Jimi Hendrix.

In those early years, they cut three incredible Northern Soul rarities, all on the Boola-Boola Records label. This is best of all of them, the amazing tune "Hanging On To A Lie." On the flipside you'll hear their update of the ten-years-old Moonglows tune "Twelve Months Of The Year."
