MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original RCA Victor Records very first “New Ortophonic” High Fidelity Mono press released and made in Chile late 1959 by RCA S.A. Electrónica, and distributed by Corporación De Radio De Chile S.A. (CRC Records), catalog number LPM-2035, with machine etched matrix numbers K2 PP2584-1S 1 A3 in Side A and K2 PP2585-1S A3 1 in Side B, with traditional black/silver RCA Victor labels, with colored “dog” logo. Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

“ROCK WITH SEDAKA” was the debut solo album of Neil Sedaka, originally released in August 1959, and late the same year we got this album released here in Chile, and like in so many cases of the period we also got an UNIQUE COVER. Cover is made of two thin cardboards with two sheets of paper fully glued to the cardboards, with the flaps of back cover, covered by the sheet of paper which’s the front cover. But in this example someone cut all the edges and the cover looks like one of those Chilean covers made of two single cardboards for front and back covers, with all the artwork intact, but it’s clear that top edge was cut about 5mm (!!!). Front cover keeps the original US artwork, with the only differences that here in Chile the tracklist (above the Wurlitzer) was omitted and in that space it was printed the Chilean album title, “¡Te Pertenezco!”, and in the logo at top right corner, where the original album title, “Rock With Sedaka”, is printed, here in Chile the title is “Rock’N’Roll De (By) Sedaka”. Back cover is different, it has a brief review of Neil Sedaka and at left side the album title and tracklist, all text written in Spanish only, with additional information about the “New Ortophonic” recording. In labels the album title is written in Spanish only, and the tracklist is written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriters and the original price, “E° 6,50 ($6.500.-)”. About the price informed in two currencies, it’s the best proof to know this album was released here in Chile late 1959, because from January 1 of 1960 the Chilean currency changed from “PESO” ($) to “ESCUDO” (E°), so this record has the price in both currencies. It’s interesting to notice that in front cover the album title is “¡Te Pertenezo!”, but in back cover and labels it’s “Te Pertenezco”, with the symbols omitted. And sides in back cover are identified as “Lado 1” (Side 1) and “Lado 2” (Side 2), but in labels they are only “A” and “B”. So, here you have the chance to get and own this historical record by Neil Sedaka in this MEGARARE PRESS with an UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE BACK COVER and UNIQUE ALBUM TITLE, rarely seen and maybe auctioned here in eBay by the very first time!! WOW!!! Another great FIND!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in only G+ or VG- condition, clean and fully readable, with general wear, some little rips, age browning and marks of humidity in back cover. The record is in nice VG or VG+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, but many scuffs, light hairlines and some soft scratches, which don’t affect play at all. Labels are in EX or EX+ condition both sides, clear and clean, with minimal spindle hole wear, the grading is mostly influenced because it has some faint blemishes which the black color doesn’t let to see at first sight. The sound is in strong VG+ or even EX- condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, with a soft background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with constant soft crackles and some occasional light clicks here and there, more evident in the silent parts between tracks and in the last seconds of each side, which don’t really cause major distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, sure this record could not to be for Minty minds or audiophiles, but it keeps a very nice glossy and clean look, almost immaculate labels and a great sound quality after about 62 years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone!!! And keep in mind this album has an UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE BACK COVER DESIGN and UNIQUE ALBUM TITLE used here in Chile only!!! WOW!!! Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
