Classic Records once again released a musical as well as a musical gem! For "Live At Massey Hall 1971" immerses the listener in the concert of January 19, 1971 in the Massey Hall in Toronto (Canada), as if it had just been yesterday, as if you were in the audience. Such a livehaftig, so in the sense of realistic representation of the action on the stage, one experiences at rock concerts only very rarely! Neil Young returned to his hometown as a young star, although already at the height of his career, and only with guitar and piano was a fine, and ultimately quite intimate, session that fascinated audiences as much as it does us today! It is also great that the final applause and the following encores were not cut out, so the impression of actually attending the whole concert is underlined!
Now, for the first time, there is an official album of this terrific recording, remastered from the original analog bands from Young's personal archive, of course by Chris Bellman at the Bernie Grundman mastering studio! Folded cover incl. Supplement. ...............

Given an "official" release by Young's planned-archive series, this follow-up to his Live at the Fillmore East (featuring Crazy Horse) is an all-acoustic, solo outing from January 1971. Only 25 years ago, and with the highs (and lows) of the Buffalo Springfield, CSN&Y and three solo albums under his belt, Neil went home to Canada and delivered a majestic set of just voice and either flat-top guitar or piano. Bootlegged recordings of this tour are infamous among fans and have been passed around for decades. The official mix from his personal tapes is a Godsend, positioning the listener front row center, catching a budding rock legend in his early prime. Hier hat Classic Records wieder einmal ein klangliches wie auch musikalisches Juwel veröffentlicht! Denn „Live At Massey Hall 1971“ lässt den Hörer in das Konzert vom 19. Januar 1971 in der Massey Hall in Toronto (Kanada) eintauchen, als wäre es erst gestern gewesen, als wäre man mitten im Publikum. Derart livehaftig, also im Sinne von realistischer Abbildung des Geschehens auf der Bühne, erlebt man bei Rockkonzerten nur sehr selten! Neil Young kehrte damals als junger Star, obwohl bereits auf dem Höhepunkt seiner Karriere, in seine Heimat zurück und bot nur mit Gitarre und Piano eine feine, letztendlich auch recht intime Session dar, die das Publikum seinerzeit genauso faszinierte wie uns heute! Toll ist auch, dass der Schlussapplaus und die folgenden Zugaben nicht herausgeschnitten wurden, so wird tatsächlich der Eindruck, dem ganzen Konzert beizuwohnen, noch unterstrichen!
