THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL COPY OF ONE OF NEIL YOUNG'S SPARSEST, MOST SAVAGE AND FINEST LPs - VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Following the 1973 Time Fades Away tour, Neil Young wrote and recorded an Irish wake of a record called Tonight's the Night and went on the road drunkenly playing its songs to uncomprehending listeners and hostile reviewers.
Reprise hated the record, and Young went right back and made On the Beach, which shares some of the ragged style of its two predecessors.
But where Time was embattled and Tonight mournful, On the Beach was savage and, ultimately, triumphant.
"I'm a Vampire, Babe," Young sang, and he proceeded to take bites out of various subjects: threatening the lives of the stars who lived in L.A.'s Laurel Canyon ("Revolution Blues"); answering back to Lynyrd Skynyrd, whose "Sweet Home Alabama" had taken him to task for his criticisms of the South in "Southern Man" and "Alabama" ("Walk On"); and rejecting the critics ("Ambulance Blues").
But the barbs were mixed with humour and even affection, as Young seemed to be emerging from the grief and self-abuse that had plagued him for two years.
But the album was so spare and under-produced, its lyrics so harrowing, that it was easy to miss Young's conclusion: he was saying goodbye to despair, not being overwhelmed by it.

Track Listing:
Side 1: WALK ON / SEE THE SKY ABOUT TO RAIN / REVOLUTION BLUES / FOR THE TURNSTILES / VAMPIRE BLUES
Side 2: ON THE BEACH / MOTION PICTURES / AMBULANCE BLUES

LABELS: The labels are clean, bright and unmarked with no real evident spindle traces - this copy has seen very little play
VINYL Visual: The vinyl still retains its original deep, glossy sheen and apart from some light hairlines caused by the card inner sleeve (which have no audio consequence) the LP appears practically as-new
VINYL Audio: Pretty much perfect audio performance throughout - crisp, sharp and fresh and it sounds absolutely sensational. The production is thin and sparse but this gives the album a rough, immediate feel perfectly suited to the often bitter content. On playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing and it's always a great pleasure to return to this one) there are no scratches, no sticks or jumps, no surface noise and no clicks or pops. The audio delivery is superb and the pressing is very clean. The whole LP plays to an extremely high standard with all frequencies bright and clear, no groove-wear and no distortion and is critically graded a very strong NEAR MINT for audio - this is tremendous piece of work, a fantastic copy (just about as good as it gets) and very, very highly recommended
SLEEVE: The single, untreated, matt cover is good and solid with crisp, sharp edges (just a little rubbing) and a clean, clear spine with all text fully legible. There is some light rubbing to the surfaces (but nothing major) and the whole sleeve is in great shape with none of the common ring-wear. The inner flower print colours are bright and vibrant - EXCELLENT
INNER SLEEVE: The original card inner is in NEAR MINT condition with no marks, few signs of handling and no splits to the bottom or side edges. (The LP is now housed - and will be posted in - a new inner to prevent any 'knifing' damage to the original during transit)
