NERVOUS NORVOUS : TRANSFUSION / DIG. 78rpm. US Dot. Hollywood. This Fine US Pressed 78 Cult Classic Is In A STRONG VERY GOOD PLUS Condition Throughout. Nervous Norvus was the stage name of Jimmy Drake, born in Memphis, Tennessee who later moved to Oakland, California where he lived for many years. The lyrics to "Transfusion" concern a careless driver who (cheerfully) recieves blood transfusions after each accident. The graphic sounds of a car crash heard in the song were dubbed from the standard sound effect library and can also be heard on "Dead Man's Curve" by "Jan & Dean" and also "The Leader Of The Pack" by "The Shangri-Las" Banned on many radio stations in America in the 1950s the song was later played by US disc jockey Barry Hansen, which supposedly led to his knickname - Dr Demento.
