NEW Charlie Daniels Band - Off the Grid: Doin' It Dylan (Vinyl LP 2014, Blue Hat BLH-9716L)
Review from another site: For Charlie Daniels and his band, this album is clearly a labor of love. Charlie doesn't just play covers of Bob Dylan songs, he lives and breathes them. The listener can quickly tell that Charlie carefully selected these songs as the Dylan works that most inspired him and the tunes he and his band could best interpret and make shine. So many artists cover Dylan songs, but fall flat on their collective faces, sounding like bad bar bands when they try to do justice to gems in his catalog. Not Charlie and his boys. They sound great -- passionate and full of life. Daniels has never sounded better and he is careful to sing the lyrics so the listener can understand the words and the meaning behind them. The selections are great -- Tangled Up in Blue, Just Like a Woman, Gotta Serve Somebody, Quinn the Eskimo Man, Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall, Country Pie, etc. -- and add up to one of the best Dylan tribute albums I've heard.
