One review: "Johnny Cash and His Woman" is a small treasure just waiting to be rediscovered. This release features Johnny Cash in his comfort zone. Spinning tales and stories of everyday life. The City of New Orleans is the strongest cut here, somehow Cash missed this as a hit but nonetheless makes it his own. Allegheny, an interesting song of love gone bad and love gone wild, with June adding the appropriate Indian "war hoops" throughout. A couple of story songs, two Gospel numbers and lots of love between Cash and Carter on the rest, and it adds up to a sweet, yet short, release. One more tidbit: this was the final album from long time Cash producer Don Law."
