Substance is a double-disc set of New Order singles, featuring a number of songs not previously available on the band's albums, at least on these versions. Although there are a few re-records of previous singles, the majority of Substance consists of 12 mixes designed for nightclub play. Arguably these 12 mixes represent New Order's most groundbreaking and successful, because they broadened the concept that a rock track and roll band, especially an indie rock band, can do this. Substance brings together their best remixes and in doing so not only showcases the band's musical innovations but also showcases their songwriting prowess - "Temptation", "Blue Monday", "Bizarre" Love Triangle" and "True Faith" are some of them. one of the best pop songs of the 80s. Despite being a two-disc set, Substance wasn't too long. Instead, it provides the perfect introduction to New Order, while also providing collectors with a priceless collection of singles.
