NICK DRAKE's 1st ALBUM FIVE LEAVES LEFT. This copy was owned by ROBERT KIRBY (the album’s arranger). HIS FAMOUS DEBUT LP. ON ISLAND UK 1969, with PINK LABEL - WITH THE BLACK CIRCLE i LOGO. With provenance as a gift from the arranger, Robert Kirby. Robert Kirby arranged the strings on ‘Day is Done’ ‘Way to Blue’ ‘The Thoughts of Mary Jane’ and also the sadly prophetic ‘Fruit Tree’. He gave the album to me personally in 1969 as a sample of his then current work, when I was discussing using him on a record that I was involved with. My project came to nothing, but this was the record that put me on to the genius that was Nick Drake. I have enclosed a signed ‘note of provenance’ Saying Robert Kirby gave it to me in 1969.
The vinyl album is in very good condition, only lightly played years ago, and stored unplayed for the last 25 years. I can’t see any scratches on it, the pink label looks brand new, with no scuffs. It’s stereo, ILPS-9105 made in England. Stamp on the vinyl scroll-out reads: 1LPS 9105 B# 2. The gatefold cover has some storage wear and edge scuffs, as you see from the pics, some little dents around the edges, wear to the corners, but is really not bad. There are no stickers on the cover.
