NICK DRAKE- BRYTER LAYTER- LP- PLEASE CHECK THE PICTURES FOR TRACK LISTING.

ISLAND RECORDS.  ILPS9134. 1970.  MATRIX: ILPS 9134 A1U / B1U.   1ST PRESS, PINK RIM, PALM TREE LABEL.

CONDITION: VG / VG+.

DESCRIPTION: The textured sleeve has heavy edge and corner buffing, this has warn through, approx 1 inch, on the bottom mouth corner, and the same again on the spine. The top mouth corner has come unglued and can be stuck back leaving no mark. The textured surface also has fading marks and some dirt/stain marks. There is also a price sticker on the top right front corner and quite a few very small creases. Looking at the rear top right corner there are two small scuff marks.  Complete and exceptable. Please check pics for further clarification.

Both labels look near new, under closer examination a couple of very discreet dirt / finger marks can just be seen. Side one also has some tiny spindle trails, certainly not well played but more than a few. The centre hole on side one shows very little signs of wear, pointing to the fact this is not well played. The label on side two is even better with only a few spindle trails and no centre wear whatsoever.

The vinyl retains its new rainbow shine and looks near new, Under a strong light two visible scratches and a few feather scratches can be seen on side one. Side two has two very small visible scratches and a few feather scratches.

I have test played this through both sides and found the above mentioned scratches to be audible in places, description as follows:

Side one, one audible pop at very start of side, then playing superbly well with no noteworthy feckling until we reach towards the end of track four when two audible ticks or pops can be heard, one on each rotation, this completely disapears only to return at the very end of track four, as the music infact diminishes in volume, three loud clunks can be heard, I can only describe the noise as a clunk as it is not a pop or tick but infact louder, one clunk is heard on each rotation. Looking at the vinyl closely a tiny piece of grit or dirt can be seen, I have had a little go at removing this and have put it through the cleaning machine but to no prevail. Scared of doing any serious damage I have ceased. So it may be possible to remove it with a little patience and a hand brush and fluid. Being as it is actually where the music fades-out probably not worth attempting. Anyway, as the needle passes into the cross-over groove this noise has completely stopped allowing the next track to start crystal clear and play out the rest of this side perfectly, again other than perhaps the occasional un-noteworthy quiet crackle.

Side two, Perhaps midway through track one a tick can be heard, two or three rotations, this completely disapears only to return towards the end of this track and then be heard on each rotation until the crossover to track two. Then going on to play superbly well, again with the occasional un-noteworthy quiet crackle, until we reach the very beginning of track three, I think three, possibly four ticks are heard, one on each rotation. After this playing out fine with occasional quiet crackle.

This vinyl is certainly not well played and hardly played on one side, playing with very little lessening in sound quality, other than the above reported audio faults, one of which could possibly be rectified, strong, clear audio with no continous background feckling or hissing of any kind. Playing with no distortion, fading or dragging and certainly better than the strict grading this earns, with the audio being close to mint for a large majority of this record.

Lastly I would just like to say that each deck can be a little different so if you hear one more or less tick or crackle please don't chastise me for it, I do apolopgise and I have been as accurate as possible with my deck.
