When relisting it I failed to remove the addition to the orignal listing (like a fool), and was unable to make further amendments once bids had been placed. This is the definitive version of the lisitng, and WILL definitely be running until the end!

Nick Drake Five Leaves Left LP. Original UK pink Island label issue.

Bit of a curio this one. It came from the collection of a Phillips executive, who was given pre-release copies of all the stuff released on Island. This particular LP was given to him with uncut art-work, which has been cut down to 'normal' LP size. It hence does not have a 'proper' sleeve - only cut-outs of the front and back art-work. The vinyl itself is the earliest possible relase with the 'textured' pink labels (as this was distributed pre-release, I guess that goes without saying). What makes it very unusual (and possibly unique) is that the track listing for side 1 on BOTH the LP label and the art-work show track 4 as 'Day is Done' and track 5 as 'Way to Blue', but the vinyl plays the other way around - track 4 is 'Way to Blue' and track 5 'Day is Done'. I can only assume that this was an error on this pre-release copy, which was subsequently corrected - I have not seen/ heard of another pink label copy with this error on the actual LP label - unless any of you ND anoraks out there know any better??

The vinyl itself I am told was never played - obviously I have no way of knowing whether or not this is the case - but it looks mint and 'as new' in natural light, with the full sheen that you get on a new record, and unblemished labels. However, under a very bright bulb you can see a few small light hairline marks, so it is not 'stone' mint. I have played it through on my turntable (a Rega P9) and, unfortunately, there is some noise/distrotion on tracks 4 and 5 on both sides - there are no marks, so this can only be due to a poor pressing, groove wear, or possibly dirt (but as I say it shines like new and looks more or less unplayed). The noise is not all the way through - just occasional - and does not render it unlistenable by any means - but it is there. If I were to grade it, I would say EX+/NM visually, and an overall VG + aurally (tracks 1 to 3 on both sides play NM).

I think that is a sufficient description - I have taken a fair few photos - particularily of the relevent parts of the labels and cover - so have a look at those. No doubt some vinyl sellers would spend several paragraphs describing how unusual and 'impossible' a record like this is, and indulge in much hyperbole - I'd rather let people make up thier own minds.

UK delivery will be £5 for Special Delivery - it will be very well packed. For reasons known only to them, eBay will not let me quote more than £4. But it will cost £5. Make of that what you will. I will post worldwide at cost - which I will determine after the auction end. I'm not offering individual quotes, as 99% of the people that ask never bother to bid. If you buy records frequently on eBay I assume that you will have at least a vague idea of the cost of insured airmail - I'd guess £10 to £15 to USA and Asia, and £10 to Europe - buit this will depend on the auction end price, and the insurance hence required.
