Fruit Tree is a box set by English singer/songwriter Nick Drake. It now exists in several versions, all of which feature his three studio albums, plus additional material!!

There were three initial releases of this boxed set The 1st was released in 1979 in the UK only and consisted of three lps only!  This one on offer released in 1986 by Hannibal in the US by far the most sought after and very limited amounts were released probably so in demand because this is the only four lps boxed set! The third release was a rerelease issued in 2007 as a three lp set on Island records released in both the UK and the US.

1986 1st press Release!

This Box Set on offer is from my personal collection an original  1986 release was a 4 LP release with illustrated booklet with full lyrics and literature, and had the track listing as given below. It was released the same year as the separate Time of No Reply album! I originally purchased this as new and this has been stored untouched for at least 20 years! Please note! due to the fact that this has been stored for so long!,, opening the set reveals a slight musty smell so these would have to be left out to be aired to reduce this!!!

This version was released on Hannibal Records! This is the hardest to find in superbe condition like this all vinyls are graded as very near pristine and have only ever been played no more than two or three times ever! Having played these through trak for track on a top system at very loud volume, I can boast that I never even heard a tick throughout absolutely stunning top top audio! Very Very Rare and Highly Collectable!!!!!.

Method of storage!

Initially at least 20 years ago I seperated the vinyls from their original sleeves to protect the sleeves from ringware damage, this is how I have always stored my records!

Visually all four vinyls look virtually as new and all play through as good as new!! All lay perfectly flat on the turntable and are free of any warping! All labels are near perfect with any spider traces can easily be counted perhapes one or two, most of the labels you can't see any at all, this has only ever been played by me personally two or three times ever and produces absolutely as good as new audio throughout!  So critical on this type of music so quiet in many places!!

Audio quality

I would class myself as highly critical when it comes down to the audio quality, Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!! The audio in my opinion on this type of music is only acceptable with static crackle free, cristal clear and vibrant the way to totally enjoy this type of music experiance! This plays as good as it gets!

The sleeves

All four sleeves are free of any side or edge splits that are so usual to see! Absolutely unbeleivable to find after 32 years!!

The box

The box is nice and square with the bare minimal of storage ware or rubbing with age and (very very light stain spots only really noticable if looked for) must grade at least excellent to excellent plus!!

The Booklet

This is complete with the original seven page ilustrated booklet as new but of coarse is slightly musty smell due to the fact that this has been stored for at least 20  years and has been laying dormant with the box unopened all of this time!!

A true collectors peice Highly collectable and the most sought after in this boxed set series because a very limited amount of this edition was released!!

Points to note! These vinyls are the original thick and heavier type only found on 1st pressings (later press are very much thinner material and less robust!!!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have given my honest opinion when describing this set. Please remember that this has been stored and laying dormant unused for at least 20 years. As previously described please allow for a slight musty smell (this should diminish over time if given time to be aired! Please also allow for very (very) light foxing only really noticable idf looked for. I have described the audio quality giving my personal opinion and I would say that you would be hard pushed to find better! I would recomend a constant cleaning before each play! A builde up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static crackle and a constant lean would reduce this! Please remember that this is a genuine 22 year old set and would have originally been played on a 22 year old system! A TRUE COLLECTORS ITEM!!!
