Description
Up for auction is the very RARE original pressing of “HORMOANING”, by NIRVANA, which promoted their 1992 Australian tour. This album was released, however, in 1991 on DGC Records in a very limited edition of 4000 copies pressed on SWIRLED RED and BLUE VINYL (which, in low light makes it appear purplish), and has never been legally repressed. There are many common bootlegs that were pressed on solid colors. The knock-off jackets have some tell-tale omissions, such as the shower head and the corner of the bathroom mirror. This is a GENUINE FIRST PRESSING, with all of the proof. There is a bar code on the jacket which reads 9 399441 171112. The text on the spine reads - GEF 21711 NIRVANA . HORMOANING, and the bottom of the spine reads DGC. The original plastic inner bag is of the kind used by WATERFRONT RECORDS, that is semi-circular at the bottom. The back of the sleeve lists the correct inaccurate tour dates from 1992, as one of the venues ended up being too small for NIRVANA's popularity. This is the only record that has these recordings of most of these songs. “TURNAROUND” is a cover of a DEVO tune, “D-7” is a masterful version of a song by GREG SAGE & THE WIPERS, and “SON OF A GUN” and “MOLLY'S LIPS” are an homage to one of Kurt Cobain's favorite Scottish pop/punk bands THE VASELINES.
The track listing is as follows:
Side A:
1. “TURNAROUND”
2. “ANEURISM”
3. “D-7”
Side B:
1. “SON OF A GUN”
2. “EVEN IN HIS YOUTH”
3. “MOLLY'S LIPS”
The matrix numbers in the run-off are all etched (not stamped), and read as follows:
Side A: DMX 79745 ®2B (the “B” could easily be mistaken for “13”)
Side B: DMX 79746 ®2A
The sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition, as it shows very light discoloration and has RAZOR SHARP CORNERS and NO SEAM SPLITS. The plastic inner sleeve is perfect. The vinyl has the original shine, and is also in EXCELLENT condition. You will be hard pressed to find a better copy anywhere! Good luck, and bid high if you really want it!!!
