Description

PLEASE NOTE: I WILL ONLY GRADE AN OPENED LP NEAR MINT (NM) IF I CAN GUARANTEE IT HAS NEVER BEEN PLAYED (i.e. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER).  OTHERWISE, NEAR MINT MINUS (NM-) IS THE ABSOLUTE HIGHEST GRADE I WILL ASSIGN AN OPENED LP.

ULTRA RARE Caress Of Steel LP that is presumably a 1st RCA club pressing with unique catalog number R-113661 text above the artist text on the labels and something I have never seen before, a small sticker (NOT print!) with the RCA catalog number in the lower left corner on the rear cover!!  I have contacted several trusted collectors about this pressing and the consensus is that this was pressed up before RCA or Mercury could print the proper covers with club and catalog text info printed on the rear cover directly where the sticker is affixed.  One colleague had a Led Zeppelin II with a similar sticker and after some investigating found this to be the case.  Rare as hens teeth.  Release year is unclear as there in NO entry for this pressing anywhere in the massive, sprawling Discogs database whatsoever but the only RCA club pressing that exists (with printed club text) is from 1975 and this one would predate it.  LP is a beautiful near mint minus and cover is easily VG+, close to VG++, with a hint of ring.  A VERY nice copy of this rarity.

I USE GOLDMINE GRADING:   MINT (SEALED) NEAR MINT: LOOKS UNPLAYED VG++:  VERY VERY MINIMAL SIGNS OF USE VG+:  AVERAGE SIGNS OF USE, NOTHING DEEP, SUPERFICIAL VG:  STILL AN OK RECORD, NOISE BETWEEN SONGS GOOD: WORN BUT PLAYS FINE WITH DISTRACTING NOISE POOR:  FILLER COPY ONLY.  LOTS OF SCRATCHES
