Description

THE NOCTURNES : Slightly Delightful LP (no label [USA] CO 977) 1964.

Record is VG with moderate light marks only. Side one plays quite nicely with surface noise only noticeable between tracks, and a small blemish on track 5 ("Money") that clicks a few times but it's not conspicuous (the music is pretty loud at that point). Side two is a little noisier with some moderate noise audible during the music (particularly on a couple of quieter tracks) but nothing overwhelming, no loud pops, sticks or skips. Overall it's pretty clean, used but not abused, and probably about as nice a copy as you're likely to find any time soon. Cover is a solid VG+ with a few small tears at the edges (no splits) and light overall wear. The photo pasted to the front is a little scuffed up/worn but the wear is really only noticeable under close inspection.

Solid original copy of this rarely-seen ultra-primitive lo-fi prep/frat/garage LP from New Jersey. If the description below doesn't make you want to buy it, I don't know what will...

From Acid Archives :

"Military Academy fratrock band leaving a crude and primitive testament to their skills, although just what these skills were remains hard to tell. Distorted lower-teen vocalist sounds like Sky Saxon's younger brother on top of an energetic sub-Kingsmen fraternity house band. Pre-Invasion covers all through naturally, epic opening 'Twist and shout' has been comp'd while frantic takes on 'Mashed Potatoes' and 'Money' give a high reading on the Stupid-O-Meter. Most songs have crude fadeouts and the album as a whole displays a lo-fi $15 production value. Not bad at all for fans of local frat sounds a la 'Ho-Dad Hootenanny' or Hipsville vol 2 & 3, although the total effect of a whole LP's worth is a bit mind-numbing. The cover has a color photo of the group (in matching red jackets) glued on." (Patrick Lundborg)
