The Noyes Brothers -- Sheep From Goats 2xLP

100 Minutes Of Solamar/Miro

Original 1980 UK release on Object Music (UK) (catalog # OBJ 009/010), with gatefold sleeve.

An experimental DIY post-punk masterpiece. Twisted, sparse, and manic brilliance. Limited edition of 1000. If you ever wondered what The Shadow Ring would sound like if you could transport them back to 1979-80 along with a bunch of sheep and goats... well, here it is and it's even better than you'd guessed.

Record Collector Review: Steve Solomar and Steve Miro met in Manchester in 1966, though it took until the mid-70s for them to start making music most notable in the band Spherical Objects, whose two albums were self-released on the Object Music label in 1978 and 1979. They then began working under the name The Noyes Brothers, releasing this limited edition, 1,000-only double-album in 1980.

Musically, it stood apart as the duo’s influences ranged from rock to Sun Ra. While Night Sky Vision sounds like Beefheart played by Johnny Marr, I Am You trumps Wire’s debut album by delivering a delicious, infectious song that clocks in at one minute and 20 seconds. At the other end of the spectrum, It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time clocks in at over 25 minutes and at times sounds like an outtake from The Residents’ Fingerprinz album (that is a good thing).

As this was recorded on four-track the instrumentation and arrangements are at times sparse, but this works to their advantage, especially on the tracks Archetypical Memory, It Must Be Vibration and Pointless, where guest female vocalist Joe Boyer really gives these songs a compelling edge.

Shipping And Payment Info

Records can be shipped worldwide via any method.
I will combine shipping. Winners of multiple items save substantially on shipping costs.

Within the US: shipping is $4.00 for Media Mail. Priority Mail is a recommended option, it's faster and more secure -- cost is reasonable and calculated based on your zip code. Shipping costs include delivery confirmation.
Combine shipping with other items: The cost of each extra item is calculated automatically based on weight: if you want to add a record (7", 12", LP or double-LP) or CD to your order the cost is only between 25 cents and 75 cents per extra item depending on total weight.

Outside the US: shipping is calculated automatically based on your country and the weight of the record.
IMPORTANT: tracking is only available with Priority Mail Internationalor Express Mail International... First Class Mail Internationalis normally a very reliable service, but it does not provide tracking so if you choose First Class Mail International you agree not to hold me responsible in the unlikely event of loss or damage to the package-- please review my 10+ years of 11000+ positive feedbacks if you have any concerns, and contact me for more details.

Combine shipping with other items: If you want to add a normal-weight record (7", 12", or LP) or CD to your order the cost is reasonable, usually not more than $3.99 per extra item, often less, depending on total weight.

All records are packaged securely, protected by both stiff and cushion packaging, with vinyl (in original innersleeve) removed from cover and placed safely in poly sleeve to help prevent seam splitting during transit.

I can usually accommodate special shipping requests or special payment requirements, just ask.
