Description
Background
Over the next 12-18 months I'll be selling off a massive collection of records (5000+) from a shop that closed it's doors in the early 1980s. The collection covers a period from the late 1960's through to the time of the shop's closure and includes large quantities of 60's/70's rock, progressive and modern classical music. Most of the items are unplayed (or at most have sustained a single play) unless otherwise noted. You don't get many opportunities to purchase unplayed 70's stock any more! This short paragraph of background information is included whenever an item has been sourced from this collection.
UNSOLD SHOP STOCK Simply immaculate original U.K. 1965 MONO Plum label ATLANTIC pressing of Nat Adderley's 'Autobiography' L.P. (Catalogue Reference: ATLANTIC ATL 5032). This is clearly an early pressing - the fact that the labels are still plum is one thing but the labels also have a 'depressed' inner ring which I believe was phased out around 67/68. I need to avoid hyperbole but as with the other Adderley L.P. I currently have for sale I cannot imagine there is a better copy out there. I'd hazard a guess that this might have been played once and it has spent it's entire life inside a polythene sleeve so accordingly this is as white as you're going to find. The vinyl is graded as being in NEAR MINT condition. Even under an intense light it is virtually impossible to discern any marks whatsoever (including hairline scratches – don't you just love the old-style poly-lined inners). The sleeve is conservatively graded as being in EXCELLENT+ condition it's flaws are minimal and I truly believe it is the best example you'll find (more condition details below).

L.P. Sleeve
This ATLANTIC sleeve is typical of the DECCA/LONDON pressings of the period namely that it is thin and flimsy and it is always somewhat miraculous when they survive in this kind of condition. There are no flipbacks here simply a single 'piece' sleeve with laminate stretching around the spine to the rear but not covering the rear. The sleeve is graded as being in EXCELLENT+ condition. As noted above this has spent it's whole life in a polythene sleeve and accordingly the laminate looks as fresh as the day this was pressed and the rear is basically still white. There has been limited 'yellowing' of the exposed opening edge of the sleeve and there is limited creasing along the spine (as a result of being in a record rack) and limited creasing in the laminate around the opening edge of the sleeve (to 'finger' creases to be exact) as a result of removal of the vinyl from the sleeve but otherwise there is nothing else to mention. A truly beautiful looking copy!
Vinyl
The vinyl is graded as being in NEAR MINT condition. It is basically as good as NEW! It is stored in it's original DECCA/LONDON poly-lined inner and I'd guess it has been played once. I'm not going to waffle on – You will basically not find a superior copy. Under an intense light this simply looks immaculate!
Concluding Remarks
You're basically looking at a new copy here of a nearly 50 year old record! Please check my other auctions for a further immaculate Adderley L.P. and other contemporary records from the same source in similarly immaculate condition. Save me as a favourite seller as there is plenty more where this came from!
