Description
For auction is a rare record from Nat King Cole. It appears to be a test pressing of sorts, or a transcription. I say transcription because it the sleeve says Transco Manufacturers of Fine Recording Blanks. And the label has areas where to write down the master number and project number. There are intials on the record label, but I really can't make them out. I'm guessing they were from Capitol Record employees, or the person who over saw this transcription production. The scent of the record is unique, and different from any other record I have owned. Very strong, cold type of scent. Hard to describe. And the weight seems to be heavier than the usual LP's from the 60's . Given this and the handwriting on the label, and the date of 8-31-66, one year after Nat Cole died, I can only assume this was a test pressing of a future Christmas album release. It also features one track with a children's chorus. The label says, "King Family". The Kings Sisters were Capitol recording artists as well, so I can only assume that the track with the children's chorus is the King Family. The selections are all Nat King Cole save the one with the children's chorus. The tunes, in order and who is performing are as follows:
The Happiest Christmas Tree - Nat Cole Mrs. Santa Claus - Nat Cole Away In A Manger - Nat Cole Jolly Old St. Nicholas - Jingle Bell Medley - King Family Children's Chorus O Little Town of Bethlehem - Nat Cole Buon Natale - Nat Cole Frosty the Snowman - Nat Cole The Little Christmas Tree - Nat Cole Silent Night - Nat Cole
The vinyl sounds pretty good, and I would grade it as VERY GOOD. The sound has nice, high frequencies and sounds very good. So there you have it! I have described this to the best of my ability. So if you are a Nat Cole record collector, this is certainly a unique, one of a kind item to own! Thanks for looking and good luck!
