Description

Library albums of this vintage can be hit and miss affairs and this 10", "Near Dramatic/Novelty Beat"" issued in 1968 on the Harmonic Label is a game of two halves. Side 1 opens with the pounding Hammond & guitar rocker "Hells Angels" then follows with the Hammond groover "Jacques a Go Go" and then there are two great tracks which could be the themes to 60's American cop shows. The composers are Pierre Cavalli, Pete Jacques, Joe Haider & Gert Luft. They should have stopped there. Side 2, "Novelty Beat" by Eric Ferstl, is 4 tracks of horrible oompah music. The catalogue number is CBW 616 and Harmonic was part of the C.Brull library music empire. As usual, the musicians aren't credited but you can bet they were the cream of the session world of the time. These 10" LPs were pressed in minute quantities, often as few as 50, and if a track or two took off then they might get reissued on a 12" LP but it is the 10" issues that are the true originals. The cover is in excellent condition, just a little wear from handling and some writing on the back cover where the owner has made notes about the styles on offer. The disc is in near mint condition and plays great. A rare opportunity to pick up a seriously rare slice of vinyl. Feel free to ask questions. I am happy to ship anywhere on the planet and operate a no-quibble refund policy.
