Description

This is a 24 KT Gold Plated Alum that is playable.  It is Neil Diamond 20 golden greats from Canada.  This was release originally in a green box but I haven't found it.  The album is plated on both sides.  When this album was released in 1978 in Canada only there was an article about the gentleman that designed the machine in Billboard Magazine.  He developed a process that may others couldn't that could gold plate a regular black vinyl album (later they went with yellow vinyl) that would still play on a turntable.  This was distributed by MCA Records which contracted with the Toronto company to produce 12,000 units.  Due to the new process it took longer to do this and store weren't happy.  MCA canceled the order after just 1,200 were made.  This sold in 1978 for $15.00 at retail.  It is listed in some price guides as very valuable.  The winner should be very careful not to touch the grooves and handle it by the edges.  The gold plating will show your finger prints more than a regular record.  The set contains the 24KT Gold disc, a regular black vinyl disc and the album cover.  Any questions, please write me.  I know all of this as I managed the company from 1987 to 1995 and then owned it from 1995 until 2007.
