Description

Selected titles from the private collection of a music business veteran are now being made available for the first time. Titles offered by this Seller are one-owner and came directly from the pressing plant, record company warehouse, other label reps or record store unless otherwise noted. 

Grading is based on visual inspection.

Album ships in a 2 MIL poly cover sleeve.

I package records outside the cover to avoid seam splits.

Tonight's the Night is the sixth studio album by Neil Young, released in 1975. It was recorded in 1973 (most of it on a single day, August 26), its release delayed for two years. It peaked at #25 on the Billboard 200. In 2003, the album was ranked number 331 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

The black theme of this album runs through the music and the graphics. It is based upon the fact that two of his associates, Danny Whitten and Bruce Berry had died of drug overdoses shortly before this album was written. The Seller feels this album had a real edge to it that Young's previous albums lacked. In that sense, it was a transitional album that led to future hard and loud Neil Young records.

  • This is a First Pressing Promo.
  • The matrix ends in RE-1.
  • In the dead wax on one side is "Hello Waterface". On the other side is "Goodbye Waterface".
  • The black Reprise label copy includes "Promotion Not For Sale".
  • A pink "Promotional Copy" sticker is on the front cover.
  • The board Gatefold cover is blotter-type paper that is kind of flimsy. It shows storage wear on the seams and corners. There are no splits.
  • The two-sided black paper inner sleeve has photos on both sides.
  • The original 12" x 15 1/2" insert with credits and commentary is included.
