About This Collection & My Grading This is my personal record collection, assembled from the mid-1980s through the early 1990s. The records were stored unopened from 1997 until now. I've since dusted each one (not wet-cleaned), test-played it once on a turntable to check for skips or major issues, and graded it by sight and by ear. I'm not a professional record grader — grading was done using the widely-used Goldmine grading standard as a reference guide for the media, and my own simple letter scale for the cover (both explained below). All grades reflect the record's age; nothing in this collection is being graded or sold as Mint or Near Mint condition. All items are sold as-is; please review the photos and notes for each listing closely, as they're the best representation of the actual item's condition.
Media (record) grading key: Grades below refer to the record itself only — cover condition is graded separately below.
VG+ (Very Good Plus): Great shape for its age — smooth surface, no visible scratches, minimal to no dust/handling marks. VG (Very Good): Great shape for its age — light dust or minor surface artifacts that do not affect playback. G+ (Good Plus): Shows its age — noticeable dust, artifacts, or light scratches; may include minor surface noise but plays through cleanly without skipping. G (Good): Noticeable wear, dust, or artifacts; may include audible surface noise, a slight warp, or other imperfections. Still fully playable start to finish — see listing notes for specifics. Fair: Plays through, but has at least one specific, disclosed issue affecting playback — e.g. a light skip on a particular track, or a scratch that causes noise on part of one song. The listing notes will specify exactly which track/side is affected and how; everything else on the record plays normally unless otherwise noted.
Cover/sleeve grading key: I use a simple letter scale for the cover, separate from the record's media grade:
A: Still sealed in original shrink wrap. B+: Very clean for its age. B: Clean for its age, but shows some age. C: Shows signs of wear along edges/corners; may have markings or push-pin holes. D: Cosmetically rough; may have an open seam.
Each listing's notes section will call out anything specific to that record: dust/inner sleeve condition, outer cover condition, visible scratches, warp or wobble, and any other relevant detail. A few records in this collection show BPM notations in marker or tape on the label or sleeve — these were mixed by a roommate who DJ'd in that era and are noted as a cosmetic/historical detail, not a defect.
Feel free to message with any questions before bidding/buying — happy to check a specific detail on a record if it's not already covered in the photos or notes.
