Well, I had this up last week and realized at the last minute that I had to take it down. Apologies to those of you who were following this listing. Let's try again.
In the 1970's and 1980's, new records were sometimes offered for sale at a lower than normal price, to be found in what was called the "cut-out bin." These were still in factory-sealed plastic, but had a notch or drilled hole or clipped corner in the cover sleeve. I never for-sure knew what that meant, if it was "overstock" or something worse - like maybe they were flawed in some minor way and then were "seconds?" Don't know. Anyway, I bought plenty of these and never had a problem with them. This album is a cutout, indicated by the notch cut into the bottom edge of the cover at the left side.
So, being a 40+ year old record and having moved from apartment to apartment many times, this was handled a lot more than it was played. I am guessing that I probably played this less than three times ever in its life. The album cover and inner sleeve are certainly intact but show what I consider to be normal edge wear and corner crimps.
The vinyl itself played fine for me in recent testing. Turn it up and enjoy the music. There ARE some scratches and pops at times, usually more noticeably at the quiet between songs, but still, sometimes audibly during a selection. Having grown up with imperfect records (as soon as I played them once or twice), I got used to an occasional pop or scratch, that was okay as long as there was no skipping. This record did not skip on my turntable. If audible pops or scratches are not acceptable for you too, this record is not for you.
There ARE marks on the record, illustrated in two photos. The record plays fine through them and does not cause skipping. Interestingly, there is an occasional pop or scratch sound that occurs where there seems to be no visible mark on the record.
More troublesome for some of you may be that the record is slightly warped. Maybe that is why it is a cut-out? Short video attached shows this with a view along the surface of the record. This does not cause audible distortion for me on the turntable, and I never noticed it in 40+ years before re-reviewing the record condition for this re-listing. So, certainly this record is not in the premium condition that everybody would like.
It is what it is. Somebody will enjoy it anyway, and if it does not sell, I might not be too unhappy about that anyway.
