Description
An original pink rim pressing of 'Five Leaves' on UK Island from 1975 [5 years after 1st issue]. Matrix A1/B1 - etching not machine stamped. Please note labels are consistent with a late pink-rim pressing from 1975. Nick Drake passed away in late 1974 and this LP is likely to have been a posthumous copy to fulfil demand in 1975. Bear in mind that Drake was never successful in 'chart terms' until much later and thus these original pink-rim copies are quite sought after. The vinyl comes housed in an original non-gatefold shiny 'Robor' printed cover. Now, please note there is no mention of this being a later reissue and, importantly, no bar-code on the rear. Please also note later reissues are usually on heavy 180g vinyl, which this copy is not, mention the reissue date and issuer, and have an alternate track listing. This copy has 'Day is Done' as track 4 and 'Way To Blue' as track 5. This is exactly how you would find it on the early original pressings.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In astonishing condition and has clearly seen only the very lightest use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. And believe me when I say nothing else will suffice otherwise interference will just impinge on the listening experience. We detected a couple of crackles in the odd moment. But this is both very infrequent and very minor. A truly superb player and I'd suspect it would be quite difficult to better....
Cover (Ex+) In fantastic condition and looks shiny like new. Back and front are pristine - pretty much faultless. Edge wear is super light and the openings are still sharp. The spine is intact and all text still legible. Overall the cover retains perfect rigidity and lie totally flat. A specimen it would be nigh on impossible to better.
