Description
I have used the Record Collector grading system throughout for both vinyl and cover/extras with notes where appropriate.
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
This record is a signed copy of A Night at the Opera by Queen released in 1975 on EMI records EMTC 103.
I believe this to be a first pressing, matrix numbers YAX-5053-2 and YAX- 5054-2 and “BLAIRS” etched both sides
Its a gatefold cover with a printed inner sleeve, the cover is in very good condition, a little grubby, some wear bottom right edge and a 1cm2 patch that looks like a piece of tape has been removed centre bottom front. Written on the front “To Roger, Best Wishes from Queen” and signed by Brian May.
The story is that we lived in a South London suburb and would traditionally pop in to our next door neighbours house for Xmas drinks. For the Xmas of 1975, we had bought my brother (Roger) this copy of the record and when our neighbours brother and nephew turned up at Xmas we asked the nephew, Brian May to sign the record.
The vinyl is in excellent condition, some surface noise a few clicks and pops but no major defects
Postage –All albums will be sent recorded/signed for and insured, this improves chances of the item getting to you in one piece, and protects both parties should something unfortunate happen in transit. This does however reflect in the postage price. I will happily ship anywhere worldwide and for prices outside the EU please email, again I will quote international signed for
Packaging - Albums are packaged in a specialist mailer with a card stiffener with the vinyl/inner sleeve outside the cover – this will protect most albums under most circumstances, however if the postal services are determined to destroy the record there is little that either of us can do to prevent that hence my insistence that the item be mailed with insurance. If it doesn’t arrive or arrives damaged, I will refund subject to proof of damage or the post offices inability to provide proof of delivery and then take up the matter with the post office insurance. If you want to insist that I conform to a list of packaging demands – don’t bid, I will bubble wrap any items that sell for more than £100 but will not for the lower priced items.
